June TBR!

Hey, guys! I am so excited to talked about the books I can hopefully get to before the end of the month. My reading life has not been the best over the past few months, but hopefully I can change that this month before I get too much behind on my reading goal for this year. I honestly just think I need to read really short books, so that is what I am going to be doing. But let’s just go ahead and get into the books I want to read in the month of June!

The first book I plan on reading this month is Nothing But Shadows by Cassandra Clare & Sarah Rees Brennan.

23381003

This is the fourth book in the novella series Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy, and I am really excited to get one step closer to finally finishing it. I have just been dragging my feet with this, and I do have half a mind to see if I can get a hold of the audiobooks for the rest of the series so I won’t have to drag my feet with it, and I can just marathon it. I just want to finish it so I can read Lord of Shadows. But this series follows a character from The Mortal Instruments series, and I can’t tell you who that is because that is a major spoiler for the finale to that series, which is City of Heavenly Fire. But this series is really good, but it takes me 5ever to make my way through it. Hopefully I can push myself to read this!

The next book I hope to read is Train Wreck by Elise Faber.

train2bwreck2bflat2bcover

This is a standalone contemporary novel that I was sent for review by the author, and I am really excited to read this. This is definitely an adult novel, so it has mature content. It follows the daughter of a famous film producer named Pepper O’Brien who has screwed up a lot in her life, and after her latest disaster, she moves across the country to start over where she meets her former teenage crush who also happens to be the best friend of her older brother. I am all over this story line like white on rice, and I am so freaking excited to see where the story leads, so hopefully I will get to this very soon.

And the last book I plan on reading in the month of June is The Evil We Love by Cassandra Clare & Robin Wasserman.

23381005

This is the fifth book in the Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy series, and this one actually seems like it is going to be the most interesting one yet as it involves the rise of the Circle and what made Valentine rise up against the Clave. I am super interested in this one, so hopefully I can get to it. This series does occur after the events of City of Heavenly Fire, but prior to the events of Lady Midnight, and I am hoping that someone will finally answer me to say if I need to read the rest of this series before I read Lord of Shadows because if I don’t have to, I will briefly stop reading this series, and I will marathon Lord of Shadows. But for now, looks like I will just keep reading this series…

And there you have it! That was all of the books I plan on reading in the month of June. What books are you planning on reading? Comment down below! I would love to know. And that is going to be it for this post today. Thank you all so much for reading this, I hope you enjoyed it, and I will see you next time!

Books I Want to Read This Summer

Hey, guys! Today I thought it would be fun to talk about the five books I want to get to most this summer. The majority of the books on this list are contemporaries because that’s what I usually feel like reading in the summer, but there are a couple of fantasy books thrown in as well. I am really excited to read now that I am done with my first year of University, so I am hoping that I will have more time to read. But let’s just go ahead and get into the books I want to read this summer!

The first book I am hoping to get to is Simon vs. The Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli.

51vf3a1rfzl-_sx330_bo1204203200_

This is a standalone contemporary novel that follows Simon Spiers who is currently in the closet about being gay. When an email gets into the wrong hands, he is at risk of being outed. Being blackmailed by the class clown Martin into being his wingman, if he doesn’t comply, his sexual identity will be revealed, and the privacy of Blue, the pen name for the boy Simon has been emailing, will be compromised as well. This sounds so good, and it has literally been on my TBR for forever, so I am very excited to get to this one this summer!

The next book I want to try to read is The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.

32075671

This is a debut contemporary novel that follows Starr Carter, a black teen girl who lives in a pretty poor, predominantly black neighborhood but goes to school at a private, predominantly white, prep school who witnesses her black, unarmed best friend be murdered by a cop, and she is the only one who knows what happened, so what she does or doesn’t say could not only deeply affect her community, it could really endanger her life. Everyone has been raving about this book. It seems like such a fantastic book about a super serious topic, and I just think it is going to be amazing. I am so excited to hopefully read this one this summer!

The next book I would love to get to is Tales From Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare and friends.

28954137

This is a bind up of a series of novellas, and I have to finish this. Like I am really pissed at myself for not having read all of these yet. The reason I want to finish all of these is because I want to read Lord of Shadows so badly, and it just sits on my bookshelf, taunting me because I can’t freaking read it yet. I need to read this first. But I can’t tell you anything about the plot of this series because even saying the main character’s name is a spoiler. But this series occurs after the events of City of Heavenly Fire (hence the spoilers) and before the events of Lady Midnight. I just need to get off my lazy butt and read these already, dammit! Its going to happen. I am vowing that it will happen this summer. Hopefully…

The next book I want to read is The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan.

27904311

This is the second book in the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard series, and I can’t believe I haven’t read this yet. I think I am finally going to be in the mood to tackle this baby. I’ve had this since it was released last October, and I still haven’t read it. There really is no reason for it. I know that I am going to love it. I started it and got about fifty pages into it (laughing my ass off the entire time because its freaking hilarious) before I put it down. I think I just got distracted with University coursework. But anyway, this series follows Magnus Chase (obviously) who is an einherji, which is a warrior of Valhalla, tasked with helping to prevent Ragnarok (which is like Doom’s Day). This is based on Norse Mythology, and it is filled with sass, lots of humor, and a kickass story line. I love this series, and I am really hoping I can finally get to this one this summer!

And the last book I want to try to read this summer is Blood Rose Rebellion by Rosalyn Eves.

9781101935996This is the first book in a fantasy series that I have just been taking forever to read. It is definitely not that I don’t like the book. I actually really like this book. I just am having trouble actually getting the motivation to read it. But this book follows Anna Arden who lives in a magical society where magic equates your status, and she is born of a family with magic, yet she doesn’t seem to possess any herself. However, she does have this ability to unravel or break spells, and this catches the eye of a few too many people, so her mother sends her away to live with her grandmother in Hungary where she may find herself in the throes of war and rebellion. This book is actually pretty good; I just need the motivation to read it. Hopefully I can finish this off this summer because I am already a little over halfway through it. Fingers crossed I finish it!

And there you have it! Those were all the books that I want to read this summer. What book are you most looking forward to reading this summer? Comment down below! I would love to know. And that is going to be it for this post today. Thank you all so much for reading this, I hope you enjoyed it, and I will see you next time!

Allie’s Overly Ambitious May TBR

Hey, guys! I know I am a little bit late, but there are a few books I want to try to get to in May. Literally the only thing left of University is finals week for me. I have two finals this and then I am home free! Which reminds me I probably should start packing at some point…But because of this, I am definitely going to have more time for reading, and I am just really excited to finally have time to read. This really explains why I have more books on this TBR than I anticipated, and there is probably more than I can read, considering its finals week for me. But without further ado, let’s get into the books I plan on reading in the month of May!

The first book I am going to be reading is Blood Rose Rebellion by Rosalyn Eves

9781101935996

This is the first book in a new fantasy trilogy, and this was sent to me for review by Penguin Random House, so thank you so much for sending this my way! This is a story involving this girl named Anna Arden who lives in a magical society where magic equates your status, and she is born of a family with magic, yet she doesn’t seem to possess any herself. However, she does have this ability to unravel or break spells, and this catches the eye of a few too many people, so her mother sends her away to live with her grandmother in Hungary where she may find herself in the throes of war and rebellion. I have already started this, and I am loving it. I am about a third of the way through, and I just think it is super interesting. I have very strong feelings about each one of the characters, which will definitely make for interesting review. Overall, I am just really excited to see where the story takes me next!

The next book I want to try to read is A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas.

23766634

None of you all should be surprised. I have been dying to get my hands on this book, and its finally here. I have it. I got it the day of release, and I am so freaking excited to read this! If you aren’t aware, this is the third and final book in Sarah’s fantabulous A Court of Thorns and Roses series. It is my favorite series that she has written because it incorporates two of my favorite things: fantasy and retellings. If you are not aware of what this series is about, the first book, A Court of Thorns and Roses is a Beauty & The Beast retelling, the second book, A Court of Mist and Fury, is a retelling of Hades and Persephone, and I actually don’t know what retelling this one is, but either way I am super pumped to see how this series wraps up. I know this will wreck me and I will have all the feels, but I think it is going to be an epic and heart wrenching conclusion.

The next book I want to try to read is Heartless by Marissa Meyer.

18584855

Yeah, you read that right. I am actually going to give the book another shot. I have heard so many great things about the audiobook, and I listened to a few minutes of it and really liked it, so I used my one Audible credit for the month to get this audiobook. I have heard that audiobooking this is the way to go because the narrator is fantastic, so hopefully I will finally finish this. That’s kind of the reason this wasn’t on my list of books I DNF’d. But if you aren’t aware, this is a retelling (of sorts) of Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, one of my all time favorite books. This is really the origin story of the Queen of Hearts, so I think it will be interesting. I am really hoping I can finish this. Fingers crossed, guys…

The next book I want to try to read The Two Towers by J. R. R. Tolkien.

727800

This is the second installment in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and if you don’t know what this is, where the hell have you been for the last 60+ odd years? This is a high fantasy series that I have been slowly making my way through via audiobook, and I have been absolutely loving it. The audiobooks are definitely the way to go because they are so interactive. It cuts out all the “he said, she did this, etc” and you just hear the cast doing it. There are sound effects and a whole cast of voice actors, and these audiobooks are just so good. But I am very excited to continue on with this series!

And the last book I want to try to read is Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Robin Wasserman, and Maureen Johnson.

28954137

Yeah, I want to read this entire thing by the end of the month. The second book in The Dark Artifices series, Lord of Shadows, comes out at the end of the month, and I already preordered it, so I will be reading it very soon. I need to have read this before I start that book. That whole series ties into this series, and I don’t want to miss anything, so I have to read this first before I read that one. I can’t tell you anything about this book, not even the main character’s name because it spoils the end of City of Heavenly Fire, the final book in The Mortal Instruments series. Just know this series takes place after the events of City of Heavenly Fire, but before the events of Lady Midnight, the first book in The Dark Artifices series. I have heard nothing but fantastic things about this series, so I am just really excited to finally read this whole thing!

And there you have it! Those are all of the books I want to try to get to in the month of May! What is your most anticipated release of this month? Comment down below! I would love to know! And that is going to be it for this post today. Thank you all so much for reading this, I hope you enjoyed it, and I will see you next time!

April TBR!

Hey, guys! I am excited, if somewhat nervous about posting my TBR for April because I only read one book last month. So my wrap up for April will be combined with March’s wrap up as well. I just have been so busy with University and just being stressed about the end of the semester, so I haven’t been reading much. But I am hoping I read more this month (but Finals will be coming up soon, so who knows…) But let’s just go ahead and get into the books I plan on reading in April!

The first book I would like to read is The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.

32075671

This is a standalone contemporary novel that is inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement and this is actually about police brutality. It follows sixteen year old Starr Carter who witnesses her childhood best friend be murdered by a police officer when he was unarmed. She is the only one who knows he was unarmed and knows the truth about what happened. So whatever she says or whatever she doesn’t say could really hurt or help her community, but it will also endanger her life. I have been dying to get my hands on it, and I have been broke, so I haven’t been able to buy this, but I went home for Spring Break and I begged and pestered my mother until she bought it for me, so I am very excited to finally be able to read this!

The next book I want to try to read is Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick.

29868610

This is a memoir of Anna Kendrick’s life up to this point, and I have already started it. I am actually audiobooking this because Anna is the narrator, and I’ve been really enjoying it. Its really hilarious, especially since Anna is telling the story herself. Its full of really awkward moments and hilarious comedy, and its really been interesting, just learning about how she got started as an actress and a performer. I hope I can finish it this month!

And the last book I want to try to read in the month of April is Confess by Colleen Hoover.

22609310

This is a standalone contemporary novel that follows Auburn Reed, a girl who has everything mapped out, but that all changes when she walks into an Art Studio, looking for a job, and meets Owen Gentry, an artist who works there. She puts her heart into control and starts a relationship with Owen, but he is keeping major secrets, and these threaten to destroy everything important to Auburn, so she decides the only way to preserve those things, is to cut Owen out of her life. He doesn’t want to lose her, but the only way to save their relationship would be to confess, but the confession might be infinitely worse than the actual sin. This is a book that I started last month, and I know I will really enjoy it, but I have just never sat down to really read this. I think I just need to set aside time to actually read this and finish it. I know I am going to really like it, and I know it will probably wreck me, but I am excited to hopefully finish this novel this month.

And there you have it! Those are the books I want to try to read in the month of April! What book(s) are you really looking forward to reading in April or Spring in general? Comment down below! And that is going to be it for this post today. Thank you so much for reading this, I hope you enjoyed it, and I will see you next time!

Allie’s Belated March TBR!

Hey, guys! Another month has gone by, marking it one month closer to the end of my first year of college, which is kind of crazy. I honestly am so ready to be done with this semester. I am taking all general education courses and they are killing me. This also explains why it took me so freaking long to post this TBR post. I have just been stressed about University and my classes and life, but that’s another post for another time, probably when the semester ends. But I am very excited to see what March holds because I had such a fantastic reading month in February. But let’s just go ahead and get into the books I plan on reading in March!

The first book I want to try to read in March is Gathering Darkness by Morgan Rhodes.

17342700

This is the third book in the Falling Kindoms series, which is a high fantasy series that follows five unique perspectives from three warring kingdoms, all fighting for power and all hoping to posses the Kindred, a magical object that has been missing for centuries. Its kickass, complex, and just an amazing series, and I am so excited to continue on with it. Last month I read the second book, Rebel Spring, which was absolutely amazing, and I am very excited to get to this book, as I am sure it will blow my mind. This series just keeps getting better and better with each book, and I am excited to see where Morgan Rhodes takes the story with this book.

The next book I want to try to read is Confess by Colleen Hoover.

This is a book I recently picked up because I want to try to read all of Colleen’s books, and I have been in the mood to read contemporaries lately, so this seemed like the perfect fit. I am very excited to get to this novel, even though I am fairly certain it will wreck me. It sounds like its going to be a good one!

The next book I am going to read is Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff.

29236299

This is the second book in the Illuminae Files series, and I actually have already read this, but I wanted to reread it, so I am listening to the audiobook. This is a series that is uniquely told through IMs and emails and transcripts, and it so good, so unlike anything I’ve ever read. This is a science fiction story, and I actually am going to be audiobooking this because I need to reread it, and I have heard nothing but fantastic things about the audiobook. But I am so excited to get to this hopefully soon.

And the last book I plan on reading in March is The Lovely Reckless by Kami Garcia.

27414434

This is a standalone contemporary novel that follows a girl named Frankie who is being forced to move to the Downs, which is the really bad part of town when she lived in the Heights previously because she got a DUI (she moved in with her dad who is an undercover cop). She is dealing with the fact that she witnessed her best friend/boyfriend get beat to death right in front of her, and she can’t remember who did it. So she shuts everyone out, deciding to believe that absolutely nothing matters anymore. She ends up learning about the Street Racing scene and catches the eye of one of the best street racers in the Downs, Marco Leone. He does everything in his power to stop her from denying her growing feelings for him, but he is hiding something, and when she finds out that secret, that could either make or break her relationship with him, with her family, and with herself. I am so excited to get to this because I have heard nothing but fantastic things about it. I have a feeling its going to be a good one!

And there you have it! That was my March TBR. What book are you most anticipating reading this month? Comment down below! And that is going to be it for this post today. Thank you so much for reading this, I hope you enjoyed it, and I will see you next time.

February TBR

Hey, guys! I cannot believe it is already February of 2017. I still am correcting myself on my papers when I accidentally write “2016”. Has anyone else had trouble with this? But I am very excited about the month of February because last year, February was my most productive month of the entire year (blogging and reading wise). I hope to continue that trend, so my TBR is a bit ambitious, but I am really hoping that I can actually complete everything in this pile of books. Speaking of, let’s just go ahead and get into the books that I hope to complete in the month of February!

The first book I would like to read is Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover.

17788401

This is a contemporary novel that I started during the Hooked on Books 24 Hour Readathon, and I am actually almost done with it. I think I’ve only got around 70 or 80 pages left. But this novel features two people who are having a no-strings attached physical sort of relationship (I would say friends with benefits, but they aren’t friends). Miles is a pilot, and Tate is a nurse (I originally thought she also worked on a plane, but after reading the majority of the book, I realize this isn’t true), and for this little arrangement, Miles has only two rules: Don’t ask about his past and don’t expect a future. This book is so amazing so far, and I have been flying through it. I just haven’t had time to just sit down and finish it. But I am sure I will finish it this month, and I am super excited to see where the rest of the story leads!

The next book I plan on reading is Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella.

23305614

This is a contemporary novel that is centered around a girl who has a severe anxiety disorder, and it deals with that mental illness, but in a pretty humorous way. This book is definitely not too serious, though it still deals with that topic in a realistic way. I have actually already started this, and I am listening to the audiobook (which is amazing!). I am actually almost done with this book as well. I think I have less than an hour left of the audiobook, and I am super excited to see where the rest of the story goes!

The next book I hope to read is Now I Know Its Not My Fault by Laurie B. Levine.

32869318

This is a book that I was sent for review by the author and I am very excited to read it. This is going to be a powerful story, I can already tell, and that just makes me even more pumped to read it. This novel  was released on January 15, 2017, and it is a novel that is about trauma and its a subject that isn’t really talked about. I can’t tell what kind of trauma it is because the synopsis is pretty vague, but from what I can tell, its a novel that follows a teenage girl named Alexandra Geller who is having trouble at home, so she’s vulnerable and her science teacher, Paula, senses this vulnerability. She latches onto it and “befriends” Alex, leading her to believe it is a “mother-daughter” relationship when in reality, it soon becomes a student-teacher trauma bond that causes relationships in her life to crack under the pressure of that bond. It sounds very interesting and captivating and its a story that needs to be told, and I am very happy to have received a copy of this book because I can already tell its going to be a good one.

The next book I plan on reading is Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff.

23395680

This is a reread for me, actually. I read this book last year, and I absolutely loved it. I think I read it in maybe two sittings, the first one being I read around 200 pages and the second one was over 600 pages. This book is super quick and easy to read. This is so unique because it is told in files and IMs and emails, but that definitely does not hinder your reading experience whatsoever. I am going to be audiobooking it this time around because I have heard absolutely amazing things about the audiobook. People always talk about how it is like a production, and I am very excited to get a different experience out of reading Illuminae.

The next book I plan on reading is The Wide Window by Lemony Snicket.

438492

This is the third book in the A Series of Unfortunate Events series, and I am very excited to get to this one. I will be reading the ebook version of this, and I am very excited to continue on with this series. This is a series that surrounds the three Baudelaire children (Klaus, Sunny and Violet) who are experiencing the deaths of their parents and have been shipped off to a few “relatives” houses, the first of which was Count Olaf, a horrible man who wants their family fortune and is willing to do anything to get it. This series is actually pretty depressing, but also very action-packed and really, really good. I’m excited to see where Lemony Snicket takes the rest of the story, and excited to finally be able to watch episodes 5 and 6 of the Netflix series adaptation of this! That adaptation is absolutely fantastic, and I can’t wait to see what the show does with The Wide Window.

And the sixth and final book I want to read in the month of February is The Fellowship of the Ring by J. R. R. Tolkien.

727798

This is the first part of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and if you don’t know what this is, I don’t know what to tell you because you must have been dead for the past sixteen years or so. This is a series that literally everyone raves about, and I have yet to meet someone that has never even heard of this series. This series has wizards and hobbits and magic and danger and adventure, and I am so freaking excited to read this. I am audiobooking this because I really enjoyed The Hobbit audiobook (still my all time favorite audiobook), and from what I can tell, it will be just as amazing. I have seen the movies, but I don’t remember much from them, so I am very excited to see where this story goes.

And there you have it! Those are the books I plan on reading in the month of February. I haven’t had a TBR this large in forever, so fingers crossed I finish all of these. What book are you most excited to get to this month? Comment down below! I would love to know. And that is going to be it for this post today. Thank you so much for reading this, I hope you enjoyed it, and I will see you next time.

January TBR!

Hey, guys! Its finally time. Its finally time for my first TBR of 2017. 2016 is over! And may I just say, “Thank God!” That year seemed to just be dragging for forever. So I decided I would try to read 70 books this year, and I am not going to stress myself out in trying to reach that goal, though I do want to reach it. I need to read about 6 books a month in order to meet it, which I am excited for because more reading. But enough with the chitchat. Let’s get into the books I want to read in January 2017!

The first book I want to try to read is This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab.

23299512

This is a book I received for Christmas and is a book that I’ve started, but haven’t finished. In this book, we follow two main characters, Kate, who is the daughter of the leader of the South side of Verity City and August, who is the son of the North side of the city and is a monster. Kate desperately wants to live up to her father’s ridiculously high expectations and her dad, while human, is cruel and monstrous in a human way and she wants to be just like him. August’s father, on the other hand, is kind and having grown up with that kind man, he desperately wishes he weren’t a monster, but a human boy. That’s all I am going to say without spoiling it. There are monsters and mayhem and absolutely no romance. None whatsoever, which is what originally intrigued me. I am barely fifty pages in and have been raving about it to everyone (especially my younger brother who has been telling me to shut up, and sometimes recites everything I’ve told him when I thought he was ignoring me). I am so excited to delve deeper into this story. I know its a pretty slow-moving story, but I am going to take my time with it because it is going to be epic and I can already tell it will probably end up being one of my favorite reads of the year.

The next book I am going to read is Myths of Immortality by Raye Wagner.

29412228

This is the third book in the Sphinx series, and I am so excited to read this. This book actually doesn’t come out until January 12, so this is an e-ARC, but this has been one of my anticipated reads of 2017. Raye did kindly send me this, and if you know anything about me, you know I hate reading ARCs as e-books, but I will read any shit this woman puts out because its all good (I’m serious. I would read her grocery lists.) This is a series following a girl named Hope who is a Sphinx (obviously), trapped by a curse that she desperately wants to be free of. Its full of love, loss, badass characters, and amazing writing. I highly recommend it!

The next book I will be reading is The Whitechapel Fiend by Cassandra Clare and Maureen Johnson.

28954137

This is the third book in the Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy series, which take place before Lady Midnight and after the events of City of Heavenly Fire. Even telling you the main character’s name would be a spoiler, so I’m not going to. Just know it follows one of the main characters from The Mortal Instruments series, and its really freaking good. I always devour these novellas, and last night I actually finished the second one, The Lost Herondale, which was amazing, by the way, and I will be doing spoiler-free reviews of each of these novellas. As of now they are going to be spoiler-free, but that may change. But I am very excited to see where this novella’s story will go!

The last book I am going to read in January is Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover.

17788401

This is a contemporary novel that I have been dying to get my hands on ever since I heard about it on Christine’s YouTube channel (polandbananasBOOKS) and I have never heard a negative review in all the years that I have been watching BookTube and been hearing about this book. Everyone has been raving about it (and still is). It is centered around a sort of “friends with benefits” relationship (minus the friends part) between two people that work on a plane, and I am pretty sure Miles is the pilot and Tate is a flight attendant, but I am not completely sure what her function on the plane is, so I might be wrong. But this sounds so tempting and I have been wanting to read a Colleen Hoover novel for a while, so I figured this would be a great book to start with!

And there you have it! Those are the books I plan on reading in January of 2017! What book do you want to read first in 2017? Comment down below! I would love to know. And that is going to be it for this post today. Thank you all so much for reading this, I hope you enjoyed it, and I will see you next time.
